compiling problems

I don't know where you download this tarball from. I advise you to down 
that one: http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/GFortranBinariesMacOS

Please note that, if you obtain a linker error after compiling a simple 
fortran source code, it will probably mean you need to update your 
cctools (as explained on this very same page).
