Steve,
    Thats why I like using xplor-nih for testing gfortran, it automatically
checks the results of each component against archived results files and
will flag tests that are out of spec. I don't know if it does dot_products
or matmul off the top of my head, but it does uses a lot of common blocks.

I'll see if I can figure out how to use Shark to get some profiling
information for the two builds.
