gfortran patch - g77 record markers

for those curious about the status of this patch:

i found a problem in backspace which is taking a while to figure out.
so, it is still being worked and will be resubmitted when it is done.
my time is very tight, so it will be a while.  (that darn real job thing!)

the patch posted on the previous e-mail does not apply cleanly
to the tree anymore.  if someone wants a clean copy to finish
debugging or mess with, i would be happy to provide.
