gfortran CVS doesn't build on mingw without patches these days. On the
other hand, you could try to use an older snapshot. Or use gdb to
check that the value is stored correctly and that only the library is
playing tricks.

Of course, if we had a way to run the testsuite on mingw, such things
certainly wouldn't happen. I'll investigate latter on (returning to
real life with real net access in a few days).
