FX,
   The problem is that xplor-nih has a suite of fortran subroutines
that are called from c++ libraries it uses. So there is a lot of
back and forth between fortran and c++ code. Charles normally builds
the Linux binaries with the Intel Fortran compiler that has a -C90
flag causing a special mixed io library to be used.
