complex division alogrithm?

Gang, 

In trying to understand how to solve the UNDERFLOW problem
in bug 14059, I was reading through arith.c and noticed
that complex division uses the simple, straight forward
expression.  There is a large amount of info on computing
complex division to avoid possible numerical problems.  Do
we need to update the algorithm or is GMP sufficient to 
avoid these problems?
