Seriously, as soon as I'm done with unrelated work (a speed-up of the
parsing of arithmetic types), I will open one and assign it to myself,
target release no later than 4.2.0, probably 4.1.1.


FWIW, versa_string is the cat's pajamas here.  It's what
let us upgrade finally to gcc-4.1.
