Interesting. I got the latest snapshot I could find, binutils-2.9.5.0.46,
and indeed the problem was fixed (thanks!).
What would perhaps be useful to mention here is that the primary site for
betas of binutils is:
ftp://ftp.valinux.com/pub/support/hjl/binutils
It took me quite a bit of following non-obvious links to get there. Since
it is for the moment necessary to get a really up-to-date binutils to
avoid the problem Brian is having, and that I had, it would perhaps be
useful to put a link to this site on the libstdc++ web page.
