The code is new but seems to be OK:
1657 if (p->ref && p->ref->u.ss.start)
1658 {
1659 gfc_extract_int (p->ref->u.ss.start, &start);
1660 start--; /* Convert from one-based to zero-based.
I don't see why "start" should be uninitialized here.
