Please don't be discouraged by this discussion.  If you find bad code
generation in 4.0 and can file good test cases, that will help to make
4.0.x or 4.1 better, even if Mark (properly) does not hold the 4.0.0
release to fix them all.

It's just that other problems (particularly wrong-code PRs) are going to
be the priority.
