issues to do with the gcc/sourceware/cygwin repository/website/ftpserver is
the overseers' list. Cc: added.

The problem is apparently already known about:
http://sources.redhat.com/ml/overseers/2004-q4/msg00173.html
but seems worthy of PINGing. Ping, anybody?
Oh, cancel that. It just came back online again:
dk@mace /artimi/firmware/source/crypto/lomond> telnet gcc.gnu.org 21
Trying 12.107.209.250...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
[ paused to write this email at this point ]
dk@mace /artimi/firmware/source/crypto/lomond> telnet gcc.gnu.org 21
Trying 12.107.209.250...
Connected to gcc.gnu.org.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 FTP Server ready.

telnet> q
Connection closed.
dk@mace /artimi/firmware/source/crypto/lomond>
[ Cc of overseers' list removed at this point, as
http://sources.redhat.com/ml/overseers/2004-q4/msg00174.html
confirms.]
cheers,
