I just verified that 3.4.0 has the same problem; the libstdc++ build dies
at the same point.

However, as I said, 3.3.4 works.

That sounds like a regression, then; if you want to file a PR please go ahead.


I'm not going to consider that a showstopper, since it didn't work in 3.4.0 and since David's comments indicate that this might not be tractable to fix without modifications to binutils.
