[ Sorry, couldn't resist; I normally use the phrase "rocket scientist"
because it's so meaningless in practice, but has such a large
mythological value with the "general public" - hint: several members
of ANSI's J3 Fortran Standardization body are, techically speaking,
"rocket scientists". ]
