For anyone in this situation:

Your company's security team may be reluctant to open port 2401
everywhere, but lots of us have succeeded in getting an opening made only
for a selected set of destinations, like gcc.gnu.org or savannah. If your
company uses gcc at all, it should not be difficult to make a business
case for this: you need to test whether bugs that affect you are properly
fixed in upcoming releases.

We might be able to do more snapshots, but getting more people able to use
CVS would be preferable.

Note that you can also use anonymous cvs with ssh to subversion, as stated on http://gcc.gnu.org/cvs.html - opening port 22 is usually even less a problem (if it's not open anyway).

Richard.
