Who is complaining?
If we can define the group for which this is a concern, then perhaps
we can define a way to satisfy that group.
I'm not a gcc developer watching the list for news of Gnat, but I have
noted that many (usually Linux) users equate a release of GCC with
slowness. One recent example was when discussing software performance
trends and one of the first examples cited for degrading perfomance (in
terms of speed) was gcc.
