I successfully built and installed gcc-3.2 on a
Pentium III (Katmai) running SuSE 7.3
$ config.guess:
i686-pc-linux-gnu
$ ./gcc -v
Reading specs from ./../lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.2/specs
Configured with: /work/schiller/gcc/gcc-3.2/configure
--enable-threads=posix --enable-long-long --prefix=/usr/local
--with-local-prefix=/usr/local --enable-languages=c,c++,f77,objc,java
Thread model: posix
gcc version 3.2
$ cat /etc/issue
Welcome to SuSE Linux 7.3 (i386) - Kernel \r (\l).
$ uname -a
Linux maxi 2.4.10-4GB #1 Mon Nov 5 11:31:45 GMT 2001 i686 unknown
ok this is
rpm -q glibc
glibc-2.2.4-40
wrong.
I have some troubles. I build glibc with rpm -b -i glibc.spec from
/usr/src/packages/SPECS. With glibc.2.2.4-40 rpm-package from SuSe make
bootstrap stops at make[2]: *** [crtbegin.o] Error 1
Could be this isn't necessary - I don't know.
