- Subject: Build of gcc 3.1 on Solaris 2.9
This is a successful build of gcc 3.1 on Solaris 2.9 using
-mtune=ultrasparc cflags. Since solaris doesn't ship with cc, i used
pre-compiled binaries from sunfreeware to and rebuilt gcc using a
complete GNU tool chain. (GNU ld, as, etc)
config.guess
sparc-sun-solaris2.9
gcc -v
Reading specs from bin/../lib/gcc-lib/sparc-sun-solaris2.9/3.1/specs
Configured with: /export/dev/gcc-3.1/configure --prefix=/opt/gcc-3.1
--enable-threads --with-as=/opt/GNU/bin/as --with-ld=/opt/GNU/bin/ld
Thread model: posix
gcc version 3.1
Originally I tried the --enable-threads=solaris switch, but found that
solaris threads was not fully supported later in the build process when
config scripts started running again.
