Well I would not think that a very useful think to include in most
languages, but if it was in the language I would not consider deciding
that I would not implement it my compiler because I did not like it!
(The Realia COBOL compiler implements ALTER in all its horrible forms
but I certainly would not use an ALTER in any program I wrote!)
