How about:

        $(LIBTOOL) --mode=uninstall rm -f $(libdir)$(MULTISUBDIR)/$(LIBG2C_BASE).la

instead of assuming the shared library prefix is .so, and not taking
multilibs into account, and assuming libdir is $(prefix)/lib?
