Gosh, what a mess! Mark, I am not referring to your patch, but to the
fact that apparently we have yet another file containing installation
instructions that I have not been aware of. :-(
1. http://gcc.gnu.org/install -- As far as I can see, this is our
official installation documentatin; it should be the one that is
most up-to-date.
2. http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc_3.html#SEC50 -- This is part of
the texinfo documentation; it is not up-to-date.
3. gcc/INSTALL -- Has some details that are missing in the previous
two, but is definitely no up-to-date.
We definitely should merge/update these three. In fact, fixing that
probably should become a release criterion for GCC 3.0. Mark?
We already had a volunteer who, half a year ago, merged our old texinfo
documention, an updated version by Jeff, and our urrent HTML stuff into
a single, unified texinfo file.
Unfortunately, there have been problems with getting a copyright
assignment signed by the employer, but I'll try to check what happened
in the meantime...

Have a look at http://petition.eurolinux.org -- it's not about Linux, btw!
