I've been building kernels on i586 with the latest egcs snapshots (not
1.0.2) and -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -march=pentium for ages, latest has
been 2.1.89-2 with egcs-980221. I know it's not what you are asking for,
but...
What exactly are your problems?
