I guess you're swamped by messages like these, but since you asked:

I've build and installed egcs 1.0 on what config.guess says is a
i586-pc-linux-gnulibc1 system (Debian 1.3.1), without problems.

I've compiled a small program using STL that gcc 2.7.2 couldn't handle
because it uses default template arguments.
