I figured that the cover class stuff is probably more important.
Probably, but your patch has been pending a while and I wouldn't consider it fair to force you to wait and deal with the fallout because your patch wasn't reviewed in a timely manner.

I can probably deal with the breakage if it goes in first.
If you're willing, that's fine with me.

It would be good to have a review of the existing patch though, with a
yes/no answer, before I spend a few days updating it to the new code.
I'm looking at it right now. I haven't gotten to the meat of the patch as I'm still pruning out the stuff that's obviously correct.
