I disagree; this is a very bad suggestion and will introduce more breakage.
Statically linking libstdc++ breaks some architectures.

If and when GCC itself is C++, it can be linked with libstdc++.  Until then,
there is no reason the dependencies of libraries should be propagated
to cc1 itself.

Graphite will be a technology preview in GCC 4.4, with the associated
volatility.
