  The In-Reply-To: and References: fields are definitive; mailers that
attempt to do threading based on subject are just trying to compensate for
broken mailers that don't send those correctly.  By convention, if you
change the subject line but want to make obvious it's the same thread, you
use "Subject: $YOUR_SUBJECT [was: Re: $ORIGINAL_SUBJECT_LINE]" or similar.
