I think the bugfixes you sent can and should be re-applied by
itself, sooner rather than later (giving the "right" idiom a
chance to spread, for one).
Then we can think of how to "poison" the PREV_INSN/NEXT_INSN
fields.
Thanks for being persistent with this cleanup.
