This was because I used a script to replace the text of all the files
that did not have the "see the file COPYING" in their copyright header,
and the replacement text had been indented to follow the comment
formatting conventions. For files which already had the "see the file
COPYING" text, I just used a sed script to replace COPYING with COPYING3
without indenting the text afterwards. I thought about indenting the
text in those files as well, but that would have taken another couple of
hours to do, and made the patch even bigger than it already is.
