I believe it takes two maintainers to start the clock. I vote that we start the clock, but I also think that if we can help Richard figure out what's going wrong, that would be a very good thing.


It appears that RTH has a patch for this. I am bootstrapping it on mipsel-linux right now. Unfortunately my hardware is quite slow, so I will not know the results for another 28 hours or so.


I think the cause of the failure is understood and I am optimistic that RTH's patch will solve this problem. In any event people are actively working towards a solution, so the 48 hour clock would seem to no longer be necessary.
