I don't think we're disagreeing.  If you wait for all the build
maintainers to come to a consensus, you'll wait a long time.  My
comment was encouragement for Paolo to be the build maintainer for
this decision (rather than for him to defer to another build
maintainer), not for him to blindly override everyone else.

Obviously, Paolo has to apply intelligence to his decision, but the SC
wouldn't have made him a build maintainer if he hadn't already
demonstrated that intelligence.
