I don't think we should do this automatically.  Next thing you know, we'll
have a long unwieldly and never ending list of special directories to
check.

Instead, I'll split these into four flags, --with-mpfr-include,
--with-mpfr-lib, --with-gmp-include and --with-gmp-lib as previously
discussed.

You can take a look here, apparently someone else beat me to it.  But I
think it needs a little tweeking before being accepted:
