Copyright papers with said employer are on file with the FSF. I should have said that in the original email. Sorry about that.

Provided that your previous employer's assignment covers changes from before when the assignment was filed (I think the usual wording is that it mentions "past and future changes"), then you can check this in now. (The fact that you're checking it in, as opposed to someone else, is not relevant; the key is that the copyright interest has already been transferred to the FSF.)


If you don't know what your previous employer's assignment covers, then we can check with the FSF. Let me know if you need me to do that. Then, you can apply this to mainline.
