The message was something like

Checking for complex.h ... yes
configure.LINENO:6976 <text> (expecting ")")

where <text> is some text I can't remember.  I know the 'expecting "'
was there because I double checked that I had the quoting the same
as in your patch.

My current build is still running and won't finish for another hour
or so.
