Given that most distro users don't recompile, it would be a Bad Thing
if a distro port of gcc were built with that option enabled.

Probably overkill, buy yeah, something along those lines. Not that
I'm *requiring* it, just noting that I'd be OK with it.
/me wonders if disabling "make install" whenever that option is
enabled, would interfere at all with its intended use. It would
certainly demonstrate a new record for maintainer paranoia ;-)
