(I forgot about this because I submitted a patch for the top-level
Makefiles to make this change about a month ago, but that was never
reviewed. I suspect I failed to make the right reviewers aware of it.)
I don't understand the bubblestrap problem. I haven't had time to try
to replicate that, and I won't today; it's Thanksgiving. I'm OK with
people reverting the documentation patch if it's preventing lots of
people from making progress; otherwise, I'll investigate tomorrow.
