It seems like a nice approach in that the translation of the copyright
symbol gets shared and doesn't go fuzzy when the year is updated.  It does
need to be carried through to all the programs (written in C; there are
some written in Java, while the Ada ones don't have --version) with
--version copyright notices, e.g. gcov (which does translate the message),
g77 (which doesn't; the translated and untranslated parts should be
separated), various programs in gcc/java.
