| you to configure a copy of GCC as
| --target=pentium4-pc-linux-gnu, like you can with the
| mainline. A cursory look at the diff between mainline and
| the gcc-3.3 branch shows that amd64 is also a new alias.

Yes. The reason I'm overly cautious here is that I don't want to
create bootstrap regressions at this time. So, I would say that the
back-port is not needed for gcc-3_3-branch. That would probably have
been different two or three weeks ago.
