FWIW SuSE will ship a 3.3.1 based compiler in it's next box product,
_without_ this ABI fix. I.e. we are incompatible with 3.2 compilers but
compatible with the last box. What happens with the next compilers (i.e.
3.3.2 onwards) is uncertain up to now. _My_ preference would be to not
fix 3.3.x anymore, i.e. compatibility between 3.3.x is also more
important to me than compatibility with 3.2 (although that's the compiler
we use on SLES 8). If the fix goes in OTOH then the next box from SuSE
will be incompatible with the current 3.3 based compilers (I guess I won't
take out this fix just for our version), because it will most likely be
based on 3.3.x x>=2.
Ciao,
Michael.
