You're not the only one who's been bitten by "sleepytime patching."
Perhaps when a developer is added to the MAINTAINERS file, he should also
register his native timezone with a small database application running
on the CVS server. Then, during a checkin, the CVS server can make a
good guess whether the developer really should be asleep, and prompt for
extra confirmation.
