Making a change in 3.1.x. after 3.1.0 is released is extremely hard, and
so cruft in the configurations files will be lived with for quite a
while. Thus my desire to either remove PREFERRED_DEBUGGING_TYPE from
elfos.h, or set it to what seems to be the more popular setting of
DWARF2_DEBUG before 3.1.0 is released.

I won't be able to spend time it then, thus why I was asking if you would
promise to see this thru.
