OK, I now have a solaris2.7 build that sort-of works (it crashes on
exit from any C++ program and I have confirmed that it is a known
problem, see http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-bugs/2000-01/msg00100.html)
Phil said that my work-around patch (to avoid fseek() calls) didn't
work on Solaris, I will investigate why it doesn't work tonight.
