I'm sure Michael will point out that pure 4.3BSD definitely won't have
anything named "/bin/sh5" and never will, and that people are still
running pure 4.3BSD.  (I'm not sure how many people outside of Michael
that is, but I'm sure there are some.)

I agree, 99.99% of the systems out there will have a shell somewhere that
supports shell functions and is a Bourne-like shell; it's just a question
of how small the percentage of affected systems becomes and how much
autoconf would gain from dropping the restriction.
