Since you're unable to help out at the moment, I've backed out the
changes that are causing the trouble. I bet they fix bugs and provide
real improvements, so I hope that you'll take the time to explain them
to someone so that they can go back in. I'll be happy to help with
that if I can.
I note that those patches were not accompanied by either commentary or
test-cases in the mail messages you sent when you checked them in, so
it's hard to figure out what they were for. I suggest resubmitting
them, in well-tested chunks, with some explanation.
I've verified that the mainline tree returns to bootstrap-ville with
these patches out.
