I haven't had a chance to more than glance at your patches
(I'm on vacation and paying long distance charges to dial in),
but it really would be easier to receive multiple smaller
patches rather than fewer smaller ones. In this case,
I would think many of the things you are fixing are independent
of each other. In some cases, we might want to use your patch;
in others, we might use your patch as a suggestion, but we
might perfer some other fix.
The timing is also awkward. You can see from the ChangeLog
that we are really busy trying to stabilize jc1 and shake
down the critical bugs. A large patch is likely to have
many on conflicts in such a situation.
I do appreciate the contribution. It is just we are under
a lot of pressure right now, and the added pressure to
fix the -Wall bugs comes at a bad time ... But I promise
we'll get to these patches soon.
