Is your program definitely using new libstdc++.so from the GCC 4.6.0
you installed yourself, rather than the system's default libstdc++.so?

Did you build GCC 4.6.0 with --enable-fully-dynamic-string in the
configure options?
I believe that is necessary on Snow Leopard, because the system
libraries are built that way.
