Problems with GCC 3.1 und Pentium 4

Hi there

I'm using GCC version 3.1 on a Slackware 8.1 System (Kernel 2.4.18).
I have the following problem:

I can't compile anything.
GCC abortig with a Segmentation Fault or Signal 4.
I've try to compile a new kernel, qt, quanta, gcc, binutils,... all have the same problem.
Is a problem known about Pentium 4?

I'm using the following Hardware:
one Intel Pentium 4 CPU at 1.8GHz
a Asus P4S33 Motherboard with On-Board Soundcard
512MB DDR-Ram (Kingston)
a Matrox G550 Graphic Card mit 32MB Ram
a Western Digital Harddisk with 60GB
a Plextor CD Write (12x10x32)
a Pioneer DVD-Rom
a Realtec 8189 Network Card

I have also tryed to compile the same things with RedHat 7.2 und SuSE 8.0. All have the same problem.

Sorry for my poor english, and thx a lot for any answer.

Greets

Alain
