Compiling GCC for Irix with -fsquangle support

Have just finished compiling gcc-2.95.3 on an irix mips3 machine.
Irritatingly I have just noticed in the KDE installation docs that it
needs to be compiled with -fsquangle support on.

So I need to recompile but am unsure how to configure with -fsquangle
support. I assume it is something along the lines of
./configure --enable-squangle
however this doesn't produce any mention of squangle in the output of the
configure script or the Makefile. Given that it takes several lifetimes
for gcc to compile on my indigo2 I am somewhat reluctant to kick off make
until I'm sure I've configured it properly.

Thanks in advance

P.S. apologies if you've seen this message before. I posted through
google but it doesn't appear to have shown up in the list archives
so I'm posting it directly to the list this time.
