egcs-1.1.2_VS_egcs-1.0.3

This is my problem :

I am working (I would like to ...) with Redhat linux 6.0h1 which comes with kernel 2.2.5 and
egcs-1.1.2.

For some reasons, I frequently have to recompile (and install) kernel 2.0.34. (I am developing a
traffic shaper)

When I compile it (2.0.34) with another linux distribution (Slackware with egcs 1.0.3) it does not
give any problem, and RedHat 6.0 can boot with it (kernel 2.0.34) , and XWindow works properly too.

Instead, when I compile the same kernel (2.0.34) from Redhat linux (egcs-1.1.2), it boots, but
Xwindow does not work properly.(it does not start).

This means that if I compile the kernel 2.0.34 with egcs-1.0.3 and with egcs-1.1.2 I obtain two
different things, one of the which (the second one) does not make XWin work properly.

It is not so easy to simple replace ecgs-1.1.2 with egcs-1.0.3 because of the dependencies...

How can I get arount it ?
(SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH)
