Confirmed from at least 4.8 up to trunk (7.0). Note that compiling
program emptyarray5
implicit none
real a(1)
a = .true.
print *,a
end program emptyarray5
gives
a = .true.
1
Error: Can't convert LOGICAL(4) to REAL(4) at (1)
