4.5.0 still seems a realistic target to me. I would suggest you using the time
it takes for the paperwork to complete (unfortunately, it *always* takes a lot
of time) to figure out a *minimal*, completely trustworthy set of changes,
maybe not the best one, still a noticeable improvement. Further changes can be
prepared for future releases.
