I have cross-checked the patch between the two machines; it is the
same. One regtests fine and the other segfaults in switch_types. I am
so dog-tired that I have to crash right now. At least I know that I am
on the right track. Clearly, I am missing some dangling reference. I
will pick it up again in the morning.
